Default Is it really that expensive too live in NY?

I just read it will take over $40k to find an apt in New York. Is that true for everywhere or just the typical Manhattan loft?

More or less its true. In Manhattan you won't find a studio under $1,000. Manhattan landlords are very selective, if you're income is under $40,000 they will not offer you a lease, unless you can get a guarantor or put up a number of months rent upfront.

Lofts aren't typical housing, but yes- New York really is that expensive.
