Thread: New Mover to NYC

    Default New Mover to NYC

I have a job at the Presbyterian Hospital and I'm looking for a neighborhood to look for apartments in for a short period of time. I'll be making mid-30,000 in salary, and I'm looking for a safe and relatively cheap neighborhood to live in for the summer until September. Hopefully no more than $800 a month. I'm willing to commute via subway and bus, but no more than an hour. Does anyone have any suggestions?

For $800, you can only find a studio. You can try Bensonhurst/Bay Ridge/Kings Highway/Kensington area of Brooklyn. Ocean Parkway around Avenues I, J, C can be a good pick since the rents are relatively low and the area has become very safe in the past few years.

The Presbyterian Cornell Medical Center or the Columbia one?
