Forecast is calling for another inch of snow tomorrow night - when will winter release us from it's Icy grip ?!
Does anyone know what $250,000,000 in 1975 would be in today's money? I've done a search with no results. Thanks in advance.
Forecast is calling for another inch of snow tomorrow night - when will winter release us from it's Icy grip ?!
... and in LA record-breaking heat today...
Excuse me while I ramble, but after a near-year hiatus from this board I found myself wandering through here last night, and here I am again tonight...
First, hi to all the veterans and those that know me personally -- I genuinely miss you guys. There was a time when I thought I could never not come here at least once every couple of days. But then life happened, and all of the sudden a month went by... a few months went by... next I felt overwhelmed by the backlog of reading I "had" to do if I were to visit and kept saying "f%&* it, I ain't goin"... and here I am now, a year out of the loop on what's going on with the city and with you guys. And the ironic thing is that I'm in the city now more than ever, yet all my visits are work-related and as a result I don't get out anywhere near as much as I used to.
Thinking of why I left, there's probably two big reasons: the slowdown in projects was definitely a factor (I always wondered how a recession would affect traffic to a site like this, and it hit me quite a bit [archboston is the only archi-site I still visit with any regularity], and nothing against the WTC, but I got bored reading the architecture forum when the only active threads were WTC-related); while reason number two has to do with my work/lifestyle: I was in the studio recording with my band for six weeks last spring out in Cleveland, which was a disorienting experience, literally--the only time I'd see the sun was when we were heading home for the night at 9 in the morning (while all the lovely regular folks were driving the exact opposite direction as us) or going back in around 4. It's a consuming life, and for whatever reason I didn't come here even once while I was out there.
But I think I'm doing all this rambling simply because I feel like something's missing from my life.
(Wait... an internet board, that's what's missing?!)
Strange to say, but yes. The stories, the people, the pictures, the conversations... this place is a gem. An absolute gem.
So now that I've blubbered out my sort-of love for here (sans alcohol, no less!), I suppose I should shut up and go get reading. I reckon it'll be the skyscrapers and architecture forum first![]()

Welcome back KZ.
Lets us know where we can sample some clips from your work when you guys are finished mixing......
Hey Ninjahedge (and stache), last year's project is finished but not officially released since our new label (we just got signed last week!!) has other plans for us..... but you can hear one of our tasty nuggets here, or you could watch a vid of us from our winter tour here.
Aaaand if you want to help us win a Billboard contest and send us to Vegas to compete in a battle of the bands royale, then GO HERE, read about us, listen to another song, watch another vid, and then VOTE FOR US (Gentlemen Hall) as many times as you'd like. Today's the last day for voting, so I'd appreciate any help. Cheers!

Just opened google earth for the first time in a while and was surprised to
see that all the street view bubbles had been removed?!
Does anyone know what happened to them? I thought maybe I had an outdated version so
downloaded it again and still no more street view bubbles

I hit up vpike.com, which uses google street view, & you can follow the arrows, or if you want to go further, follow the line & when a shaded circle appears, double click. Unfortunately my computer's too old to handle google earth & I had to uninstall it a couple of years ago.
