Was out for a late dinner and couldn't get home in time for Rangers game 5, so watched at a packed bar. Happy accident.
One of those games where it's easy for players to get frustrated. Rangers dominated 1st period (17-4 shots on goal), but only led 1-0. Caps scored only goal of 2nd period. Early i the 3rd, a Ranger mistake at the Caps blue line led to an odd-man rush, and Rangers had to take a penalty to stop it. Caps scored anyway in the power-play, and led 2-1 until (almost) the end of regulation.
Rangers pulled the goalie with about 2 minutes left. During the season, Rangers have had problems winning faceoffs all season, but they won most of them in this game, and kept pressure in the Caps zone in the last minute.
The video opens with 21 seconds left, a key double-minor penalty (4 minutes) to the Caps. With the goalie pulled, this gave the Rangers a 6 on 4 advantage.
At 1:45 of the first and 2:43 of the 2nd video, the guy wearing the #30 Jersey behind the bench is Giants DE Justin Tuck.
No one thought the OT would last long.
Between 5 hour triple OT specials and goals with 6 seconds left, this team is literally making me crazy. Hockey players are so unaffected and somehow it comes across in the game too. Still with 17 shots in the 1st period you would think they would score more than 1 goal. Part of it is the hot goalie, but this team is lacking in talented goal scorers (beyond Gaborik). But I love the way they play.
