Thread: Help Identify Two Buildings

    Default Help Identify Two Buildings

Hey there. Wonder if anybody can help me with two questions:

The ugly red building which is rather disturbing and boring in attachment 1, which building is this?

In attachment 2, what is the building which looks lit like a Christmas tree at night (right half of the picture). The quality of the pic is bad though, sorry.

    Thank you.

Pic 1 I'm not sure, looks like it's taken from the Seaport but I have no idea what it's name is.

The building in the second question looks like the new Goldman Sachs tower currently under construction. It's lit like that because the upper floors aren't finished yet and the construction lights are visible.

The building in the first photo is apparently called the Guardian Life building. I've always known it as the blocky red brick 80's building. Here's a profile of the building from Emporis.

Well, having worked on 565 Fifth Avenue with Norman Jaffe, I am sorry nobody sees the virtues of his 7 Hanover Square Building- done in a sort of Frank Lloyd Wright style, which you can see (at least could at one time) in the lobby design. I am not sure if the Stawskis were involved in 7 Hanover, but at least one member of the development team for it went on to do 565 and later 505 Fifth Avenue. The similarities between the two Fifth Avenue towers are seen in the use of the glass and structural concrete frame.
