Cats has Duane Reade and Gristedes in his new development. That's all I've heard at this point. There may also be a car rental place going in the Avalon, Toren or Oro garage.
The brick I've seen on Avalon must be the middle portion b/c the coloring resembles the center strip in the render.
I've been working in that area lately and the neighborhood has a ways to come yet.
The immediate area is undergoing a pretty radical change. It's going to take some time. 10-15 years is realistic.
I'm not extremely familiar with the 'before'.
basically 4th ave 5 yrs ago.
Not apparent from the photos but the color is very close to that of Oro's skin. Unlike some renderings that seemed to indicate a darker reddish tone for all but the middled portions of each facade face, it's looking like the entirety of the skin will have this color.
Exposed concrete floorplates + brick = not a good combination.
The residents in public housing across the street will have nothing to get jealous about. They probably have larger apartments too.
Long way to go still, I'm more concerned with 111L.
From a Brownstoner comment on http://www.brownstoner.com/brownston...n_myrtle_s.php :
"In case no one has noticed, both the brick facing and the rest of the construction of Avalon Myrtle halted 2 weeks ago at 32nd floor. Any lowdown on this? Meanwhile Catsimatidis is showing progress and is well into the sixth story of his mixed-use bldg on Ashland/Myrtle."
To answer my own question, I found the stop work order:
