    Default NYWT Update

Dear Rockaway / South Brooklyn Commuters,

    Great News!

Our elected officials have heard our customers pleas and extended the Rockaway/BAT service until July 1, 2010.

Just before the last scheduled run, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, City Council Speaker C. Quinn, Council Members Eric Ulrich, Sarah M. Gonzalez and Vincent Gentile announced that they had worked together to support extension of the service. The extension gives elected officials and government agencies the opportunity to explore options to continue the service.

The fares will remain the same but, as NYWT and the riders agreed, the service will be modified to save money. Therefore, starting Monday March 22, 2010 the Rockaway/BAT ferry service will be operating one run in the morning and one in the evening and the schedule will be as follows:

    AM Departures:
    Riis Landing 7:30 AM
    BAT 8:10 AM
    Pier 11 8:30 AM

    PM Departures:
    Pier 11 5:40 PM
    BAT 6:00 PM
    Riis Landing 6:40 PM

We thank our customers for the outpouring of support that the Rockaway/BAT ferry received and our elected officials for working together to extend the service. We apologize to customers who are inconvenienced by the schedule change and will offer refunds for unused tickets if the new schedule does not accommodate your commute.

    Thank you for your patronage,

    Tom Fox
