Fascinating stuff. I assume you will be doing decorations and colors as of 911.

In image 6 of 9 - lobby ground floor, the color of carpet was a light blue in early eighties. Later it was changed to shade of red or orange. I am color blind anyway, cannot describe later color accurately.

The memory I have is of south lobby of WTC 2 in lates seventies before they built Vista, later Marriott hotel.

The image of the sky (which the later hotel blocked out) with the white marble and stainless steel of the lobby, the height of the lobby, along with the blue carpet was a true experience.

That space then was a true inspirational, modern cathedral space, without being religious. I remember that earlier ideal moment, image, in my memory over what came later.

Your model brought back that old memory. Thank you.

My Aunt came across this pamphlet produced by the Port Authority. I think it dates to about 1972. Check it out.

The model in image 6 looks like one of the smaller working models used by Yamasaki & Asc. It, and the other smaller models were destroyed on 9/11, or earlier. The last one left is the big, 8 foot tall touring model used for publicity during planning and construction. It was rebuilt twice as the design changed during development, and until recently was not in the final configuration. It was recently rehabbed to look more like the final design-as-built, but the hotel is half the height of the final design (unlike the model in the brochure), though both are in the original Yamasaki design, rather than the actual SOM building. The 8 footer is currently residing in the Skyscraper Museum in Lower Manhattan.
