A good shot from the west side of the VSC showing all the different stages progressing at once. Structural steel has "topped out" on the north side of Phase 1 and decking is following. To the south of Phase 1 the superstructure concrete contractor has started laying rebar on the 305' street level. A crane is to set up here to supply their lower operations. In essence, putting the roof on first. The 16000 will start laying the center section of steel, moving west to east in the next few weeks, linking north to south.

In the distance the progressing blasting, excavation and foundation work can be seen. This is a good view of the exposed Greenwich St secant wall also.

The scale of the site is pretty impressive.

Will the south side of the VSC / Liberty Park rising opposite 90 West be a big blank wall?

That will be shielded by the yet-to-be-finalized Liberty Park. I think 90 West will have pretty nice view looking north, eventually. The park, the new St.Nicholas Church etc. What no one will like, especially Club Quarters Hotel, are the huge vent shafts that will rise approx 12 stories above street level right on the corner of Washington and Cedar, they will block the view of Tower 4 and 3 from the lower floors of the hotel.

12 story vent shafts? Wow. Seems they didn't include those in the renders of the park (although they do seem to depict something rising above the park surface near the pedestrian bridge along West Street; maybe the vents are hidden further east among the trees )

I was curious about the south side at street level, and how that will appear when the VSC and raised park are completed.

Trees usually only go up to about the sixth floor level.
