South of the "T5" wall you see along the south of the job is the Tower 5 site. It is not a PA site and since JP Morgan pulled out of the project there are no plans to start anything regarding Tower 5.
So, does that mean that the footprint of an eventual T5 cannot extend north of that wall? If so, then that would be a much, much smaller footprint than the DB building.

Is there ever even going to BE a T5?

    Who owns it now?

LAST I heard, the LMDC, who took control from DB in 2004, transferred ownership to the PA in 2006.

Port Authority controls the site, as of now they plan to eventually build Tower 5... but I don't think there is any timetable or design out there right now.

The design that was publicised a few years ago had a huge cantilever projecting northwards and overhanging the south end of the park.

I think that idea was killed.

Or is that fill remaining after the demo of DB?

Sorry. It's fill, if you go down you can see the angle of where the old edge was and where the fill is.

The current (it will go higher) top of the T5 wall is elevation 273'. That's 5' below the bottom of the old DB basement. You can see some of the DB slab just a few feet above the new wall sticking out of the fill. The vertical beams/pipes that can be seen amongst the fill are sleeves used to drill through the DB slab and inject the jet grout curtain wall that was installed last year to for a watertight seal along the south of the VSC.

If and when a T5 or something ever gets built, all the jet grout etc will be excavated.

It amazes me how fast they got this site excavated and ready to go for the next phase of construction. Are you guys ahead of schedule, or on track?

Glad someone noticed the progress! On the left, taken 6-29-11. On the right, 04-11-12. Less than 10 months, that is some dramatic change.
