The company may be profitable, but the store has taken a beating from online shopping. They have not found a retail partner, and even if they started today, it's doubtful there would be a 2015 opening. Nothing has been gutted on the upper floors, and stuff was only removed from the ground floor - as it turns out - to rent to a Halloween store.
They're opening a sub-store inside Century 21 in a few days. IMO they will move to this sub-store model exclusively (Macy's, Century 21) and sell off the real estate on Park Row and most like take another stab at the online business again. If they don't re-open and stay competitive online, I don't see how their retail boutiques will survive.

They should just stop lying to everyone about "renovating" the big store

I like it! Nice juxtaposition. And the subtle nod to The Temple Court Building at the top. Not a contrivance at all!

Just need something done with those short buildings next to the Park Row Building (nothing higher, though).

Glad this will overshadow that new building on the right.

I think that this and the other new building will be blocked by whatever rises on the J&R site.

You think J&R will be that tall? Personally, I would like to see an office building there.

I think so. The site seems far too shallow for an office tower.

I noticed that they have started the next "X" floors. The bottom of the X is there. Interestingly, it is at the same height as the roof mechanicals next door.

It looks like crap so far. Hopefully, they will cover the concrete.

I hope so too. Looks like something in Caracas right now.
