All over but for the crying. Now it's time for the digging...

    Quite a shame.

Just the small area shown in that pic looks like an OSHA nightmare.

    Raskolnikov's crime paled in comparison.

Walked by the other day. They are underpinning and founding exceedingly fast. No pics, but this will be above grade this winter at the latest.

It's funny, everyone and their mom is like 100 ft away from this taking photos of One57. Anyway, they'll be at ground level ever so shortly, then there will be a crane and you know the rest...

Today, I'm guessing this will be topped out in 2-3 months? Moving quickly. I would've rather had something impressive rise here, but for filler it really isn't bad--the final product should be decent.

Suggestion to mods: Merge this thread with the 120 West 57th Street - by Harry B. Mulliken : The demise of a beauty thread?

Why on earth couldn't the mediocrity on the other side of the gorgeous little arched passageway have been razed instead of the amazing pre-war beauty (albeit stripped of its cornice and vandalised at the bottom)?

Not to mention, that gem is being replaced by a POS with unfinished sides.

It's almost guaranteed that something this tall will go up in place of the other awful building, and it will just be two unfinished sides 20 ft apart with the archway in the middle.
