It's called the gateway (can't we get some more creativity in NJ?) and it seems to have been in limbo for a while, though it's almost done now.

Here's an older article about it.

Also- the building on the corner of South St and South Park Place that has been vacant for years is Under Contract by a developer and is expected to be turned into a new mixed-use building. They plan to add a fourth floor to the existing three-story frame.

That's great news, that corner always looks so blighted compared to the rest of downtown.

Yeah I know. It took a long time to sell because it was way overpriced. The redevelopment will complete the square.

Leona Commons- new apartments! Not sure how many, but there are 4 buildings. 1-beds start at $1800, 2-beds start at $2500. Cheaper rents for Morristown new construction, but not the best location in town--near tracks and highway. Looks like they will be ready for summer delivery.

Thumbs up Roseland & Woodmont Building Final Epstein Site Bldg

    From NJBiz:

Woodmont, Roseland begin construction on final piece in Morristown project

By Eric Strauss, December 13, 2016 at 12:14 PM
A rendering of the planned Metropolitan Lofts building in Morristown. - (WOODMONT PROPERTIES/ROSELAND RESIDENTIAL TRUST)

Construction has begun on the Metropolitan Lofts luxury apartment building in Morristown, according to developers Woodmont Properties and Roseland Residential Trust.

The building, located at the former Epstein Department Store site at 11 Dehart St., will include 59 one- and two-bedroom units and 1,100 square feet of ground-floor retail space, the developers said Tuesday in a news release.

“As the steel begins to rise, we are eager to complete the final piece of the highly anticipated redevelopment of the former Epstein Department Store site,” Stephen Santola, Fairfield-based Woodmont’s executive vice president, said in a prepared statement. “Combined with 40 Park, the Metropolitan and the Shops on the Green, Metropolitan Lofts further solidifies Morristown’s position as one of New Jersey’s premier live-work-play destinations.”

The building is the final component in a project that includes luxury residential buildings, 53,000 square feet of retail space called the Shops on the Green and a 795-car public parking facility.

“This project is transforming Morristown and is part of our commitment to transit-based development that allows residents easy access to retail, restaurants and nightlife and impressive on-site amenities,” Andrew Marshall, president and chief operating officer of Roseland, a Mack-Cali Realty Corp. subsidiary, said in a statement. “Our partnership with Woodmont and the town has been tremendously successful and we look forward to completing the final phase.”
