    Newt needs his fix ...

Gingrich Threatens to Skip Debates if Audiences Can’t Participate

    NY TIMES
    January 24, 2012

Newt Gingrich insists his fans will not be silenced.

Mr. Gingrich, a former House speaker, on Tuesday morning threatened not participate in any future debates with audiences that have been instructed to be silent. That was the case on Monday, when Brian Williams of NBC News asked the audience of about 500 people who assembled for a debate in Tampa to hold their applause until the commercial breaks.

In an interview with the morning show “Fox and Friends,” Mr. Gingrich said NBC’s rules amounted to stifling free speech. In what has become a standard line of attack for his anti-establishment campaign, Mr. Gingrich blamed the media for trying to silence a dissenting point of view.

“I wish in retrospect I’d protested when Brian Williams took them out of it because I think it’s wrong,” Mr. Gingrich said. “And I think he took them out of it because the media is terrified that the audience is going to side with the candidates against the media, which is what they’ve done in every debate.” ...

“We’re going to serve notice on future debates,” he told Fox. “We’re just not going to allow that to happen. That’s wrong. The media doesn’t control free speech. People ought to be allowed to applaud if they want to.”

    Debates /= Pep rallys.

If Newt Baby does not like people being restrictied from making noise, I am sure he would LOVE a true "free speech" debate allowing..... other points of view to be expressed.

He should be careful for what he asks for. He may get it.

Gingrich's Anti-Muslim Sugar Daddy Funded Film Shown To NYPD

    Mother Jones
    January 24, 2012

The New York Police Department, currently facing criticism from Muslim and civil liberties groups over a CIA-advised program that involved "mapping" the city's Muslim enclaves, showed an anti-Muslim training video to thousands of officers, the New York Times reports. The film purports to describe the centuries-long process by which Muslims are seeking to dominate the planet, and in particular the United States, by covertly subverting the Constitution and implementing Taliban-style Islamic law.

The story was first broken by the Village Voice, but the Times' piece connects the film, The Third Jihad, and its shadowy sponsor, The Clarion Fund, to the 2012 election:

The 72-minute film was financed by the Clarion Fund, a nonprofit group whose board includes a former Central Intelligence Agency official and a deputy defense secretary for President Ronald Reagan. Its previous documentary attacking Muslims' "war on the West" attracted support from the casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, a major supporter of Israel who has helped reshape the Republican presidential primary by pouring millions of dollars into a so-called super PAC that backs Newt Gingrich.

Adelson's donation to Gingrich likely has something to do with their shared anti-Palestinian views, namely the notion that Palestinian national identity is "invented."

However, Gingrich isn't the only candidate with links to the Clarion Fund, who as Salon's Justin Elliott andThe Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg have written, is also tied to a radical Israeli settler group. One of Mitt Romney's Middle East advisers, Walid Phares, who spent much of the Lebanese civil war as a political and ideological adviser to the leadership of a Christian militant group that committed atrocities, remains on Clarion's adisory board. The aforementioned former deputy defense secretary is birther Frank Gaffney, who also sits on Clarion's advisory board and recently praised Gingrich for saying he wouldn't appoint a Muslim to his cabinet unless he or she promised not to try and "impose [Shariah] on the rest of us."

While Gingrich's formal ties to the million-dollar Islamophobia industry are stronger than Romney's, and Gingrich himself has endorsed the whole "stealth jihad" conspiracy theory, the former Massachussetts governor has nevertheless made an effort to quietly acknowledge those who believe American Muslims are quietly working to replace the Constitution with Taliban-style Islamic law (and force all of us to eat halal turkeys at Thanksgiving) by picking one of their more scholarly cohorts as an adviser on the Middle East.

Radical Movie About US Muslims Shown to NYPD Recruits, Report Says

    DNA Info
    January 24, 2012

MANHATTAN — A movie about radical Islam was shown to nearly 1,500 NYPD recruits for up to a year of their training, the New York Times reported Tuesday.

Police chiefs origianlly said the film, called The Third Jihad and promoting an image of American Muslims as radicalized, had been mistakenly screened "a couple of times."

But documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Law show it had been shown "on a continuous loop" for up to a year of training.

The revelation has raised questions about how the police force will repair its already strained relations with New York's large Muslim community.

Among its assertions, The Third Jihad claims that most American Muslims are involved, at least tangentially, in promoting terror, according to Tom Robbins of the Village Voice who initially discovered that recruits were being forced to watch the film in January of 2011.

"After it was over, I was thinking, 'What was that?' " an officer who saw the movie told Robbins for his 2011 article.

"It was so ridiculously one-sided. It just made Muslims look like the enemy. It was straight propaganda."

At that time, police said that the film, which features an interview with Police Comissioner Ray Kelly, had only been screened for a few officers.

But a Freedom of Information request by the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University's School of Law revealed that it had been used far more often than initially indicated, the Times reported Tuesday.

The film was financed and produced by the right-wing Clarion Fund. It seems to have landed in the department in September of 2010, coming from either the Department of Homeland Security or a contractor, the Times repored.

In addition to graphic footage of the Beslan school massacre in Russia and other acts of terror, the film repeatedly shows a black Islamic flag flying over the White House.

The revelation comes as the NYPD continues to battle intense scrutiny over its extensive domestic spying program, which targeted Muslims across the city.

It monitored "every aspect of Muslim life and built databases on where innocent Muslims eat, shop, work and pray," according to the Associated Press.

An NYPD spokesman told the Times it no longer uses the film.

In all fairness... ALL religions want to "conquer the world".

It is just a shame that they all have to be "evil" if they are not the one you believe in.

Aaaaaaack. Not a single candidate has challenged the fact that the U.S. government has essentially banned the traditional 100 watt light bulb. But that's ok...it's a "free" country.

As we used to say on the playground: "Is that a threat, or is that a promise"?

I sure hope no one falls for this. Interesting gambit, but he is obviously trying to get them to bring back his preferred format.

Unfortunately, until you know where his true footing is, you do not know how much oceanfront in Arizona he is going to try and unload on "The American People".

A sheister is always good to have on your side. The trick is truly knowing what side they are on.
And which day they are on which side?

I know, right? In addition to the points mentioned in the article, I tried to watch that Daniels rebuttal to the SOTU speach, and I feel asleep! Come on now!! He may have many of the policy positions that some of these GOP pundits like, but he has the personality of a piece of grey cardboard.

    To the MOON, Callista!

Newt Gingrich Vows To Establish Colony On Moon If Elected (VIDEO)

... Gingrich's futurism goes farther back than the campaign. In his 1995 book, To Renew America, he offered a bold prediction: "honeymoons in space will be the vogue by 2020."

Jon Stewart Skewers Gingrich’s Moon Base:
He Wants To Leave The Earth ‘For A Younger Planet’

    MEDIAITE
    January 26th, 2012

Newt Gingrich‘s moon mission idea got no love from Jon Stewart on The Daily Show Thursday night ... Jon Stewart lit into him for having the audacity to propose such a lofty idea while dissing other candidate’s ideas as crazy. “A moon base?! Your solution to being accused of grandiosity is ‘give me eight years and I have have a f*cking moon base?!” Stewart seethed. “Did you start with Death Star and got kind of reigned in?”
