The lot here is nearly completely dug out, with some forms in place for the first concrete.

Due to the age and condition of the old neighboring buildings, today workers were digging out the last of the dirt pile up next to the foundations of those old brick structures. They were doing the digging by hand, with shovels, loading the dirt into 5 gallon buckets, carrying them up out of the lot and dumping them into a dumpster, chest high with dirt.

That's how you've got to do it to make sure that 150+ year old buildings aren't negatively impacted when new ones go up.

Those New York yimby updates are terrific; there is also a yimby blog and twitter feed that I have recently subscribed started to follow.

I have been looking for awhile for a way to keep abreast of all the new developments currently under construction in the NY metro area, and can not find any better single source than NY YIMBY for that purpose.

So here is a my 'shout out' thanks to NY Yimby for today's photos and commentary on the 15 Leonard street project.

As the saying goes: New York Yimby strikes again!......
