    Default Trump Tower

The renovations of the Asprey store on the base of Trump Tower have been completed. The following is a segment of the City Review's article on the building:

In early 2004, Asprey reopened [with] a redesigned storefront, designed by Sir Norman Foster. It was very elegant, very white and very bright, in keeping with recent trends towards multi-floor retail spaces along the avenue. It had little to do with the bronze Trump Tower but was impressive enough not to despoil it. (2/22/04)

Trump Tower was one of the first places I visited in the City as a kid. It was amazing then and it still is now. While it is overdone for my tastes, I appreciate it for what it is.

This renovation looks good, it brightens it quite a bit.

I had all but forgotten about this project. Nice, not much to say. It adds transparence and luster.

I visited there as a child as well. I also had lunch at the Plaza Hotel during the trip, and Trump happened to be there at the same time, sitting at a nearby table.

That must have been eye-opening, to be sitting there eating right next to him.

His son was on "Jane's New York" last night on NBC. He's a real "regular guy while clearly not", just like his father. It was a great show about the Mansions of Manhattan. It replays on March 17th. I highly recommend her series. The NYC Underground show was great too.

I saw it today. It's ok, I'm not big on retail anything (as an aesthetic component).

On the Apprentice, at one point you could hear loud hammering that effectively drowned out the show. That was the Asprey remodeling.

I guess that was in the suite. The 'boardroom' is on the 26th floor, below there, there were new office tenants I think.

Now I remember, that when I watch the Apprentice, there is always that huge billboard with the clock on it! Now I know what it is

I love the new entrance--very refined and elegant. It is a great example of how to spice up some of the less interesting big box towers!

Trump ruined the building. The white framing lends nothing to the proportions of the base and competes with the best feature of Trump Tower, the stepped back corner of the building.

They look like curtains to me. Maybe they're preparing for a new display?
