Thread: Rainy night in NY

    Default Rainy night in NY

Just a few random shots from a rainy Saturday night in the city. *It was hard to hold an umbrella and steady camera with winds whipping up, so some of the pics are blurry....

    That building looks familiar...

    Flatiron, Madison Square

    Verizon building, Bryant Park

    Where's Dave?...

    Lehman Bros.

    Soggy streets...

    42nd St....

    A walk up 8th Ave...

One of my favorites in Times Square, the Reuters...

Reflection of the Reuters on the Times Square Tower (construction)...

The Westin - would have been a great shot, but I'll get it again....

Did you have to wait long for the rainy day?

Soggy Streets has a Blade Runner quality.

The Westin shot is intriguing... kind of mysterious and dark.

Great spin on a horrible thing, NYguy. Isnt it great when you look at things in a different light?

I hate the city in the rain, as it also seems to never be nice these days. The bookstores are loving it Im sure.

But the Westin is a great shot, the array of colors are also spectacular. Times Square is not gray at all, it comes alive in dark, better maybe with the rain?

I really like how the Reuters Building looks. The sort of blur of the TST really has a nice effect.

Yes, I've always said Times Square is a treat on A rainy night. The neon reflecting from the street...amazing.

I love that shot of WorldWide Plaza practically shooting straight up from the street. *At night, with the steam from the HVAC emissions billowing at the top, it almost looks like a rocketship about to lift off.

There's always that one guy that has to have the biggest umbrella...
There he is in the middle, probably absent-mindedly jabbing someone in the back of the neck.

LOL. *Umbrellas become lethal weapons in NY when it rains. *I have the perfect technique of holding an umbrella in a way that other pedestrians can't see my face as we approach, thus they have to move out of my way or be spiked.

If you are dressed for it, New York in the rain is truly wonderful. Nobody on the street (in lower Manhattan, anyway) and its as if you've got the whole place to yourself. When you want to get out of the rain for a while, you can stop in to a Killarney Rose or Blarney Stone for a corned beef on rye and some mashed potatoes. I love it!

You've got the right idea, Jack.

The last time I went to New York, it was rainy, which was tolerable or annoying. At least I was dressed and prepared for the rain. Is it true that it has been raining a lot in New York lately?

It's been raining so much(don't forget how cloudy it's been too) that every time I see the sun I cry in happiness.
