DAILY NEWS Scient Allowed to Break Lease
Real estate giant Tishman Speyer has decided to let Scient out of a 15-year lease.

Scient, an Internet firm that has fallen on hard times, agreed almost two years ago to lease a third of Tishman's new skyscraper at 222 E. 41st St., to be completed next month. But last year, Scient said it would try to sublease the space. Now, a source said, Tishman will release the company from its obligation but keep most of the $20 million letter of credit Scient deposited at the time of the deal.

A Tishman Speyer spokesman confirmed that the company had taken the space back and was "actively marketing it."
