Daily News...
Trump traffic People who live near Donald Trump's Riverside South development on the upper West Side have long complained the project blocks their views. Now another concern has come along - traffic. Riverside South consists of four luxury apartment towers on what was once an abandoned railyard between W. 59th and W. 72nd streets along the Hudson. A fifth building, under construction at the northern tip of the development, is generating the controversy. The site occupies a corner of land between W. 71st Street and the W. 72nd Street traffic ramp at the West Side Highway, where workers are laying the foundation of a 31-story condominium tower. Critics say it will force the closing of the 72nd Street ramp, since Trump agreed to connect part of his development to Riverside Drive. The only place for a connection is where the ramp is located or where his fifth building is going. The result will be congestion on West End Avenue, they say - and one less entrance to the highway. State Sen. Tom Duane has written to Mayor Bloomberg asking that Trump's building permit be revoked. Duane complained that Trump is "racing ahead with the construction, pouring the concrete in subzero weather, to make sure" that the foundation is in the ground. Trump's office referred questions to Paul Davis of Hudson Waterfront Associates, the company formed by Trump and a group of Hong Kong investors backing Riverside South. Davis did not return repeated calls for comment. |

I wonder where these NIMBY's were when the big Lincoln Towers just east of Trump Place were being constructed. They're big 31-floor towers, as big as the Trump Place ones.

Maybe the Daily News should have had a look before going to press. They've already poured 3 basement levels.

I've decide that Tommy Duane and Christy Quinn are vying for the "NIMBY of the Century" title. Eveything's always a problem with them.

I'm not 100%, but the latest condo there sold about 410 out of 470, or something like that. *I think this is correct.

Trump's business is still booming then, right ?
Many of his detractors must be pissed. |

I assume that since he's starting another building, planning what's going in the south portion of this development (16 buildings, I believe) and doing tons of other projects (like converting the Hotel Delmonico - I think - on Park Ave. to ULTRA luxury digs), he's doing ok for himself!

The Daily News isn't too good on facts... the newest building to go up will be the 6th not the 5th building on Trump Place. (I live in the newest building).

BTW it seems they sold about 415 out of 440 apartments. *The building *seems to be very well run, and will offer everything it promised when we bought into it two years ago. *Beautiful gym, pool and spa areas, billiard room, kids room, private garden, tv room. *The apartments have 9 foot ceilings with very large windows and either a river or courtyard view. *My apartment has courtyard view with no noise at all. Great windows (apparently an improvement to previous buildings). I think that when the park below is finished and more of the buildings are up it will be really great.... living in the city but having the river/park nearby makes a big difference. *Prices are expensive, but isn't everything in Manhattan? *Many people have combined apartments to create even more expensive ones.... Apartments facing river do have some noise from traffic below, but spectacular sunsets at night. |

Love him or hate him, he seems to do it right - at least form a luxury standpoint. *It'll be great when it's done and the park on the water is in place.

I've got a complaint about Riverside South - I'd wish they finish it already!
Take that, NIMBY's!
