Director's Guild of America Tower -110 West 57th Street

I walked by 110 W. 57th Street on July 17, 2003 and noted that scaffolding has been erected over the sidewalk adjacent to this building. *Therefore, some work is about to start. *Also, I had seen office furniture being moved out about two months ago. *Does anyone know if this building will be demolished and if the proposed Director's Guild of America Tower will rise in its place?

Here's a story that The New York Post had published quite some time ago regarding this proposal:

Sources say the building at 110 W. 57th St. will be sold to the Athena Group, a developer of prime residential real estate, and will be demolished to make way for a 40-story mixed-use, full-service building.

Plans could include as many as 120 high-end condos, priced below $900 per square foot, and 100,000 square feet of commercial space.

The units, designed by architect Costas Kondylis, will go for $1.5 million to more than $10 million.

The project also includes the addition of three to four more floors above the existing structure and creation of an interior courtyard.

The rendering is great, but does anyone know if the sale to the Athena Group was actually consummated and that this tower will, in fact, rise? *I hope so.
