I hope the tower really glows, to make it a mignificent point of light on the skyline. Love the skin on this one.

i went by the building today and it looks like they are adding the crown section immediately. Right now it looks like a concrete slab beginning above the last floor.

Yup! It looks as if the crown will be constructed by conventional methods.

There will be seven more purely ornamental floors before topping out.

yes seven according to the renderings. They look like 7 seperate "floors" but their heights are lower than the real floors just below. From the renderings these 7 fakes will equal 5 of the real. So to imagine the final height just add another 5 real floors on top of what is now.

I think that its patternwork with the glass on the rendering that continues the horizontal fashion of the floors. And by the way it wont be a solid concrete block, thats just stupid. the concrete will be for the floor of the mechanical area that will be housed in the crown. The crown will most probably be glass like morgan stanley just north of times square.

Yeah it is a beauty on the eyes.

Now is the reason I can't see the Chrysler building is because is right behind it? or is it hidding behind the City Corp...or is just that from where the picture was taken that you just don't see it? :|

    Great shot Edward!

Krulltime - the Chrysler is hidden behind the GM building in this picture (that's the big fat white one)

And I saw it today from north Queens, it has the same 'skyline extension' effect that TWC has on the west side. Very prominent.
