What is in the area of the double-height & different style windows on the west side of the building, way up high?

    Anyone ever been in there?

Does anyone else but me actually like this building? Granted, the building is indeed different to say the least, but I think the Westin is perfect for Times Square. I wouldn't want it anywhere else, but I think it really works where it is amid the chaos and bustle of 42nd street. And I'd rather have the Westin than some boring glass box like what will probably get further up 8th Avenue soon.

Those double height windows towards the top of the building do irk me though whenever I see this building. How hard could it have been to match the glass used on the rest of the building? Is it some sort of crazy Architectonica design feature?

I really like it, really funky looking, perfect for Times square IMO. People will not walk by it unnoticed, it'll make you stop and check it out for a second of two. Im surprised people here have so much disdain for it. Its very interesting architecturally and as Macreator says; different. Different shape different facade (in terms of color), different base; in other words- NOT boring. It may offend some due to their inherent achitectural standards but I believe that towers like these are the ones that give NYC its architectural spice.

Yeah this building has never offend me really. It looks fine where it is. It is on the wacky styles of the Times Square area. You want that type of architecture here. The look at me thing. It works. This buidling is wacky enough to deliver. I really like the light scheme in the middle of the tower.

I've always liked it. Not great architecture but it seems to capture the spirit of Times Square.

I've never liked the brown/beige/red thing going on at the base...I think it's hideous. Aside from that, I'm a big fan
