I'd like to see Cedar Street reintegrated through the site to eliminate the L shaped plot of land, I think that would help to keep the tower a bit off the site unlike the DB building was.
I don't see the lack of openness.
The view north will be across the entire memorial to 1 WTC, 3 blocks away.
It will be the same size as an NFL field.

I think the reason might have to do with grade. Parts of the VSC would be beneath Cedar St. if it went through, and early plans that show the church on the eastern side of the park (over the VSC) also show stairs leading down to Greenwich Street.

I thought it had to do with traffic.
Won't Washington St from Albany St be one-way north? I figured that would basically be an access street for the hotel, site 5, and the VSC.
Washington St. will go north, then make an (almost) 90 degree turn west to become Cedar St. which then heads out to West Street. So that leaves a gap in Cedar St. between Greenwich and Washington.
Lots of horizontal steel going in at 4WTC.
I wonder just exactly WHAT, if anything, will be done with the steel that is being dismantled from this building.
Is it contaminated as well? Can it be melted down and used again for something else? Has it all been sent to Statton Island like some of the steel from the Twin Towers was?
I've always wondered about that.
from what i've read they can melt down the steel and reuse it..
the 3,000 degrees of the smelter eliminates any toxicity.
the progress report om lowermanhatan.info says DB demo is on floor 6 and the plan is in process to approve the floor 5 removal.. i imagine that has something to do with the last horizontal crane support being right there.

130 Liberty Steel Removal Making Progress
... contractor Bovis is testing a new method of steel removal.
Rather than cut steel members on the roof into smaller lengths for removal in bulk containers, crews are cutting steel as larger sections that the crane can lower directly to the ground. Once removed to the ground, the high-quality steel is cut into smaller pieces and trucked away from the site for recycling.
Thanks for constantly taking those pictures GreenwichBoy
I think WTC 4 and DB are almost at the same hight now. Time to go back in time and remember this poll:
