I can't wait until they start with the power washing.

I believe the building is going to end up a really crazy shade of coral/pink when they do. We'll see how that comes out.
From LMDC, Tower crane coming on the 29th/30th.

January 12, 2011 Fulton Transit Crane Install to Close Broadway
A tower crane is scheduled to be installed in January The new year brings the start of Fulton Street Transit Center superstructure construction. To begin steel erection, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) plans to install a tower crane at the main-building site at Broadway and Fulton Street. The operation will limit traffic on Broadway during the weekend of January 29th. Starting at 8 p.m. on Saturday, January 29th, Broadway from Fulton to John will be reduced to one moving lane, with all pedestrian traffic diverted to the west side of Broadway. A full road closure of Broadway will occur from 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Sunday, January 30th. All Broadway traffic will be detoured to Ann Street. Traffic enforcement agents and flaggers will be posted at all times.
To construct the new Fulton Transit Center building, MTA crews will also close the sidewalk and two eastern lanes of Broadway from Fulton to John Street starting January 24th. Work on the new complex is proceeding in several areas of Lower Manhattan, with components either already or planned to be completed the coming years. The entire Transit Center is slated for completion in mid-2014.
This project is obviously going to transform this corner (as well as is the new dorm building across the street). I'm curious to see how development in the immediate vicinity follows because there is still so much underutilized junk here. A parallel that comes to mind for me is the pre Conde Nast building condition of the square block running between 6th and 5th Avenues, and 42nd and 43rd Streets. Once the 6th Ave side developed, the dominoes continued to fall.
Tough call. There's more junk on Fulton St. than John. There's almost nothing on John St., short of the corner lot where Zeitzeff Burgers is located. Everything else on the street is pretty well spoken for (short of the old hold outs by 200 Water, and that's not going anywhere). More interesting would be if and when the giant empty lot at Ann and Nassau gets developed. There must be some massive air rights hanging out for that property.
Sorry they rotated upon upload.
This building desparately needs a reclad.
