I have no problems with this building whatsoever. It draws attention to itself in just the right ways, and fits in without being the proverbial box residential with cheap balconies. Costas gets my approval on this one.

The other thing I noticed in that picture is the incredible contrast of scale between this building and the ones behind it. This building is what, 30 stories tall? In most other cities, like a Baltimore or San Diego, this would really make an impact. Here, it almost looks absurdly small to be mentioned in the same category of "skyscraper" as 7WTC, which is nothing extravagant by our standards. Can't wait to see all that new height rise up from the WTC, as well as Goldman, as well as 101 Warren and the other BPC residentials as infill. From that particular perspective, I think Goldman's new HQ will look sharp, and in 10 years, this will be a great skyline once again.

The great thing about New York is you can focus on any small area of the overall skyline, and have a respectable skyline in itself. I mean, what is that photo, about 1/5 of the overall downtown skyline? If that? You've already topped half of the cities in America.

This building is very well done. High quality and top notch. I would love to switch this with 10 Barclay.

Today was the best photo taking day in months. No haze, temps in the 70s. The first time in a while I didn't even crack a sweat outside.

Thanks lecom. I should add 7 wtc looks fantastic.

West Street certainly looks barren, though.

Any bets on how long until BMCC tries to capitalize on that prime real estate and attempts to build something up above the existing low-rise?

You mean atop the existing building? Can they do that? Do they retain the air rights?

    Don't know ^^

But it would seem from the ZONING_MAP that BMCC is zoned C6-4 (same as the Citigroup / Travelers building just to the north; 200 Chambers is zoned C6-3) ...
