this tower is a white elephant, i would bet its hard to even find a buyer for some of this tower, nobody wants to be a landlord to public agencies!

On the contrary, government agencies are the best credit. It's other major tenants that don't want to be with government agencies.

right which is why a firm wont buy it since they have commitments of about half the tower to agencies now. There best hope is that Vantone signs a lease for space, thus that may help its value on the market

Last I read it was 2.4msf out of 2.6msf committed to including Vantone.

So far, federal agencies have issued letters of intent to occupy nearly 1 million square feet in the tower. New York state has also agreed to lease about 400,000 square feet. And the PA has been in talks with the Chinese real-estate firm Vantone to lease another 1 million square feet.

I thought you said Vantone alone was taking 2.4 out of 2.6.

    Just forget it.

That's nice that one of the Freedom tower's biggest tenants might be from a Communist country.

Who cares, China is communist in name only. China is one of America's largest trading partners and last I checked the complex was still called the World Trade Center.

You say that now. But when it's built, and the tourists are lined up to get into it, and its the focus of so many photos, postcards, and shots of the city, you'll eat your own words.

They'll have the freedom of being here (or up there). It's the American way.

I don't get this idea of the FT being an 'embarassment'. With the exception of Foster's proposal, just about everyother proposal prior to the current FT design was the embarassment, particularly the version with the birdcage. This building is the EXACT height of the originals. Beyond giving it a twin, what do its' detractors want? I'm yet to see any armchair architect come up with something better. All they can suggest is something tacky or banal, but stretched to 1,640,524,772.37 feet tall.
