According to LowerManhattan.info, the North core is above grade as of Feb 09. Is that really the case?

No, the north half of the core is still a good 35 feet below street level. Warmer spring weather is coming and with it alot of cement pours and progress. Expect the north half to break street level some time in late spring or early summer.

Thanks for the pics,Pinkie, the yellow crane in your last pic installed the tower crane for Tower 4 this week. Though I don't think the actuall crane and boom have been installed yet.

As of 7:45am Sunday March 8th there are now north wall main columns poking out of the Vesey St. overhang !

By my count 16 of the 24 perimeter columns are now 10 feet above the ground floor.

    Default Just a thought

Had this been the view in, say 2003 or 2004, just imagine how the resilience of NY'ers would have been symbolically demonstrated to the country (and the world)!

I think it was a different view back then.

And what would be different about the country and the world today?

I think it would have changed peoples perceptions of the city and the country. The failure to get the rebuild up and running quickly and effectively really demonstrated the incompetence at the top. A quickly rebuilt trade center would have been a very effective 'f*** you terrorists' and would have shown the US to be as resilient as it claims to be. Instead of ineffective as it appears to be.
