More steel rising on the North side of the building. At this rate the structure should clear the building to the East blocking the view from Brooklyn by September.

That is the "East hoist bank" high speed high capacity construction elevators. At 750 fpm they well be able to lift stuff to the 105th floor (the roof) and return to ground level in under five minutes. Of course that does not include unloading time.

Love the "Flying Cat" pics, Zippy.

Many people pan this building mostly due to its dissapointing height and lack of massive flair, but I think the design is underrated. Simple elegance can sometimes be timeless. Yes, it isn't an organic marvel, nor does it reach the hyper-tall status like we are seeing now in China and Dubai, but it fits in perfectly into the surroundings and will lend the real capital of the USA a shimmering glass jewel-like beacon that will stand as a testament to the emergence of a sleeker, more futuristic 21'st century NYC.

While I will always wish for taller, the roof height is appropriate for me. For 9 years now, every time I view lower Manhattan, be it driving on the Jersey Tpk or on flying into Laguardia, or even on t.v., I try to visualize the former twin towers in relation to the rest of the skyline, and this building will re-establish that and reinforce my memories by equaling their original height.
