With the substantial square footage of sloping walls on tower 1, is accumulating snow and ice sliding down a potential issue with this tower? Just curious what's going to happen with all the snow that hits it in a real storm...

The slope of the 1 WTC is so steep I doubt there will be much accumulation.

Zen would have been able to answer that one right away. And would have posted diagrams to show the degree of slope (with big areas on the plans blacked out, no doubt).

Snow wont stick to the glass because the building, like all others, will be heated from the inside and the temperature will be too high to get any accumulation.

I did experience one problem last week in Jersey City with the southwestern sloping facade... from a certain angle, the glare from the sun in the late afternoon was as blinding as looking directly into the sun.

Imagine coming in for a late afternoon landing at EWK.

As for those EWR arrivals, flight crews will know of the glare problem and be prepared for it. Best option is simply to fly the ILS approach.

Glad to know that. But what about the poor passengers looking out at their first close-up view of Manhattan. Maybe they should pass out sunglasses.

Hey. What floor is Larry Silverstein on over there at #7 WTC: I wonder his office will be having a little party once the curtain wall rises above their office level.

Thanks for those great photos DK, the 1 & 7 combo looks great.

Seems to have been a delay in steel erection the past few weeks. Could it be the billing dispute between the PA and DCM Erectors, or just the cold weather?

Definitely a slow down here and on 4. Issue I believe is that the supplier can't continue to fund production of more steel w/o cash up front from the WTC developers. Effectively the supplier needs the developers to be its lender.
