I thought topping out meant the structural steel , not the floors, reached the top.

Actually the chances are very very good for them topping out by the end of April, if not then certainly by the beginning of May...There are 12 floors left and 11 weeks until the end of April...now I know these floors are higher and may take a bit longer...I'm confident we will make it...at least by May!

I think what we all mean by topping out is topping out at 1368 ft, or roof level, because of the symbolism attached to the original twin towers.
Mid-may seems like a strong possibility, assuming no weather delays.
Looking forward to it!

Those photos, (and video) have been great viewing this morning: and have me wondering about the completion date. I am reminded a news report I read some time ago, regarding the approximate 'completion date' http://www.nyc-tower.com/2008/03/21/...2-reconfirmed/
........EXCERPT - Silverstein, the president and CEO of Silverstein Properties, was quoted by Ian Ritter while addressing the complex’s expected 2012 finish. “Can you count on this schedule?” he asked before stating, “You bet you can.”........
If by 'completion' the term is intended to mean a 'totally complete exterior' AND a finished 'interior' ready for occupancy; then a 2012 'completion' will be a close call. As far as the building topping-out, in layman's term, I take that to mean that the building has reached its full height of 1776' feet: which includes that tower structure on the top..
BTW, Anyone know exactly what floor they are up to at this point?
I believe last I read 92 floors
Thanks, I thought it was closer to the top than that: so 13 more floors left. I have made a bet (non-monetary) with somebody; and with 13 more floors to go before the 'structural steel' topping-out ceremony I am feeling confident that I am going to win. (LOL)
Thanks for news - 92 going on 105. It is getting close.

I've been working down here for over a year. And if precedent means anything they won't make it. Over the past few months DCM have barely been able to pay for their fuel, steel has been delayed at every floor and there is still 4 to 6 weeks of dodgy weather. They had steel to 81 in mid-September, that's approx 21 weeks to put 11 floors up. Roof slab is 105, leaving 13 floors to go. I'll predict a topping out party to coincide with 09-11-12. (And that's not allowing for the extreme liberties taken in declaring "topping out". Several floors below the top isn't unusual).
