The 6' roof slab is the lid on the shafts and core. The antenna weight channels directly into the core. Which is a monster.

I believe so. I'm not directly tuned into the pick schedule.

From what I'm told, that was not the base section that went up yesterday. The base section requires a 2 crane pick and is scheduled to come straight off the trailer and land in place.

Confirmed. It was the #2 piece that went up yesterday. The south crane has been coming down in pieces today. The base curb gets poured tomorrow and the base section is a straight shot on Tuesday.

Video that seems to have been taken from a chopper circling the tower: some very good news footage of the first section of the spire being placed atop tower one.

    That "master alarm" sounds serious.

When you say straight shot does that mean when they bring it to the site at night that it will also be set at night?

That video is 74.682% better when muted.

Why haven't the squared off the base yet? When should we see the first glass installed on the base?

My guess is that the delay is a result of originally outsourcing the glass to China; but ultimately, China couldn't do it, so they Had to go back to PPG who was the local supplier. To further complicate matters, and for some unknown reason, they then had the glass shipped from Pittsburgh to China for finishing.

It has been a long and winding road, but the good news is that WTC Tower One is nearing completion: lets hope the glass at the base is a spectacular as promised.

Tuesday night? Is there an approximate time on that, after midnight?

That is the most absurd thing I have heard yet about rebuilding the WTC site. Makes one yearn for the days when steel arrived from Pittsburgh still warm to the touch for installation on the ESB.

Look where the antenna pieces are sitting...there is so much going on at the base they'll wait as long as possible before squaring off the glass...that's just eye candy anyway.

It's a 2 crane pick, straight from the trailer and onto the bolts. I doubt they'll do it at night, Wednesday morning maybe. When I hear more, I'll pass it on.
