The trench is some sort of utility work, they are welding the splice in the girder under cover from rain.

Yeah, that looked like a giant storm drain.

Are they going to chop back that chunk of wall at the upper left ^ on the 2 WTC site so that the east wall of this bathtub runs in a continuous straight line along the west side of Church Street? Or will that bump-out remain (and the foundation for 2 WTC be built up against it)?

isnt that "bump-out" the Vescey Street subway station?

I think a portion the lower plinth of the building sits partially on that land

According to the layout on this MTA map [pdf] the WTC Station at Vesey Street lies mostly under Church Street (other than the passageway at the SW corner / foot of Fulton Street) ...

Yes, the slurry wall will remain as seen, except for new openings will be created to access the E and N/R/W. Arcman is also correct, a low-story portion of T2 will sit between the bumped-out slurry wall and Church St. And yes, it is new storm sewer on Fulton.

Are they blasting on the Hub site (using the pattern of holes seen on the EarthCam at lower right)?

Or are they drilling + filling those in for foundation work?

That's the Tower 2 Site. The hub site is over by where the Manitowoc 18,000 sits.

Is it the core of Tower 2 they are blasting?
Pretty much follows its slightly hexagonal shape if overlayed with the site plan.

It shure looks like they are about to blast for the core foundations.

If that is the core, then this tower is going to be massive!
