They've started installing the flying column supports on the northeast corner. That's, of course, the toughest spot to see on any of the webcams, but they're clearly in from the TC webcam. Looks like the first two as of right now.

They are just slamming these things in today. They have 11 installed. There's only one left on the ground to go in. I can't wait to see them going on on the south side where they will be more visible to all the cams.

The first portals were delivered this morning. Wow they are huge, I can't believe they brought them in one piece! At the bottom of the picture you can see one of the special stretch trailers they used (yellow).

I'd like to see how they will trip them up to install them. Probably use both cranes.

These aren't portals, these attach to the main columns of the oculus. The ones that they've been putting in simply hang from the ceiling and attach to these. These support the B1 mezzanine that wraps the Transit Hall. The cranes that they've erected seem to be rated at a load higher than the pieces they've brought in and these go in like a puzzle piece, between the flying ones.

The portal frames are sectioned in upper portal and lower/sub portal. Subportals are on red, lower portals on blue> http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/6...owerportal.jpg

Well OK then, to be precise these new parts are the Lower Portals and the smaller ones are the Subportals. The actual portal or "upper portal" is the part that sticks up above the ground, that attaches to the tops of these.

For what it's worth, they're not wasting any time over here. The first two of these large pieces are already installed on the north side. It looks like there's about a dozen of the smaller pieces to go in, then about 40 of these. I assume nothing above ground will go in until these are all done, but at the pace things have been going, it won't be more than another month or two before they're all in and this starts to soar.

Alert: Cameras will be down permanently as of 2/27/2013
And it looks like they are about to start with portal ribs...
