Seeing the pic of the platform and how much progress they've made above ground, I can totally see this being ready for 2015. Maybe late in the year, but definitely looking like it is possible.

First platform to open for new World Trade Center PATH station

Tuesday will bring a milestone in the construction of the new World Trade Center PATH station.

The Port Authority will open the first platform for the new station, with service to Hoboken.

Officials say 'Platform A' is a fully modernized PATH station, and will be the center of the new World Trade Center transportation hub.

Other platforms will open in phases through next year.

The fully modernized Platform A features new lighting, speakers, illuminated signs, escalators and elevators.

The new WTC Transportation Hub will include several similar platforms and will continue to open in phases through 2015, providing Lower Manhattan with more modern transit and retail spaces in the near future.

How do you get to platform A? Through the current PATH entrance?

Imperfect? What's wrong with it? All I can see is that the floor might be getting dirty too quick.

White floors can't stay very clean with that much traffic.

I think it was supposed to be a humorous headline. Even a speck of dust would not do with all that white .

Wait till the hordes from the two "Leprecon Bar Crawls" get a hold of that platform on Saturday.

Can anyone here think of other Modern (in style, not age), major public facilities in the US other than this? I mean, most of our stadiums are pretty "classically" styled. I guess maybe Barclays, but it's not white-out modern. I guess the Metro in DC is Modern, but it's also not white out. I have this feeling people aren't going to like this. It feels incredibly European to me:

To me this is the most exciting part of the whole New WTC complex is the Hub itself. It is going to be a marvel to behold once it's completed. I hope it is embraced by the public and more European design in American buildings is not a bad thing at all IMO.
