Has anyone noticed the new pieces of steel installed for the PATH roof? Also Zensteeldude, I see where they cut out the roof for Calatrava's supports, those two black latches under the temporary decking. There's steel in place that looks like they overlap the two latches, so I guess there they go.

They're using the super crane for dumpster work? What an insult!

Actually it was installed earlier last week. It looks like the closer end is just sitting on the temporary deck, waiting to be attached to the next section which will rest on the round column under the hatch at the bottom of the picture.

Yeah, this thing has been sitting there for a while, I wonder if it's going to stretch all the way to the box girder...
Actually, thinking about what might go where, I made a little sketch - how I imagine the arches of the new Path station (I know there will be more layers on top of that) and not-so-long-ago discussed East and West Truss will play together..
I never came across such 'overhead' perspective, so I took a wild guess!
Is it any close to the truth?

(The 18000 did not go anywhere - it's still there, just photoshopped out for clarity)

(right or wrong) very well done. so are the two brown pieces the East-west box girder?

then that would make that perpendicular piece on the platform part of it.

That little chunk of steel they set in place near the southern tower crane is a plate girder. That 1500 ton box girder the report talked about sits along side the western truss and is supported by super columns at both ends.

No, just move your red box up a tad so it sits adjacent to the western side of the box. The plate girders go up to the box girder, not all the way to the subway box.

Ah, so I guessed that pretty much right
I assume arches will be much more numerous and will be closer to each other - are they going to correspond to each one of those angled plates in the plate girder, picture of which lofter1 posted earlier this week?

Anyway, are they preparing to pour foundation for NE super column here?

Those are the first six of hundreds of pre-cast concrete box beam sections. I wasn't expecting to see any this soon.

Those particular ones are going above the western most PATH track. (The one all the way to the right)

PS: The giant box girder is in blue.

Do you know if they are planning on keeping the original PATH platforms which survived 9/11? I thought they had decided to, but on the webcam it looks like they are "chewing up" the eastern-most platform.
