Thank God. That smell was nauseating and it permeated throughout that entire floor of Penn Station.

Nothing more disgusting than the odor of rancid popcorn oil.

+1 to that! I didn't like having to inhale that horrid odor everyday when I went out to grab lunch. That smell was a-w-f-u-l.

Remember this? The project was constantly discussed last summer and fall, but is only now starting construction.
This 70,000 square foot facility is being built in Science Park, immediately west of NJIT, and will create 100 full time jobs as well as about 200 temporary construction jobs.
All of the images are on my blog,

The perimeter piles have been installed to allow for excavation. I guess Newark's soil is just that unstable.

Also, the building on the corner of Broad Street and Washington Place next to "Jetsons Row" is being renovated after having a sidewalk shed for many months.

Cablevision is now above ground while excavation is still underway on the same site. Still, there are no renders!

A large crew was working on the bathroom and parking garage entrance buildings.

The Carlton Hotel is clearly being renovated, but both parking lots are in active use.

The two new buildings on Ferry Street are getting a little taller.

The building once meant for a children's museum is now just a pile of strewn bricks, ready to be paved over like the rest of the city...

More windows have been added to Rockplaza Lofts.

The Broad/Raymond Renovation is progressing further. Those look like windows on a second floor.

Prudential is getting taller while steel is being added next to the temporarily preserved neighboring building. Hopefully the second tower will rise soon instead.

NJIT has started a major renovation of Redwood Hall, its first dorm that was built in 1979 and was up until recently almost exclusively Freshman because of the 2 shared bathrooms per floor rather than individual bathrooms shared between 2 rooms. The whole left side has been removed as of a few hours ago.

From a tall parking deck for Rutgers Medical School, almost the whole city can be seen.

    Scroll>>>>>

It appears that new steel is rising near the corner of Central Avenue and Morris Avenue or Morris Avenue and New Street. Does anyone know what is happening here?

I'll have to make a trip soon to look at that park again. The Cherry Blossom Festival isn't for another two weeks so they still have time to grow flowers, as I hope they plan the festival during the peak flower season.

    Default Penn station Popcorn

You guys sound like snobs, lol. I love that popcorn? Extra butter oil and salt for only $1.50.
Same bag is $3-4 dollars in NYC!.

Excellent for Newark. Maybe it will become a destination shopping center again.

Tower crane on the Halsey Street side of the Pru tower jumped up a few levels today, presumably to its final height. Looks like they'll be putting the first columns for floors 17-18 up either tomorrow or Weds.

The crane is actually off Central avenue,on a redevelopment corner of New st,and Morris ave. A former brick factory building is being converted and an addition added. I dont know if its residential or a Charter school.
