    Taco bell is opeing up in springfield ave shops next to shop rite. The building outside is complete and help wanted signs for taco bell are up.. Awesome but dangerous as i wont be able to stop going there now.....

    oh yeah poor della moses, see she lives in the corner house next to shop rite on richmond ave and she gets her windows smashed monthly by hoodlums. She put up white bars on her window and the hoodlums still throw rocks at her window for fun.

    When you have those kinds of idiots a coffee shop or a high end eatery wont work in that area. Already ive seen shop rite workers giving their hood friends five finger discounts and people opening food and eating it and tossing it in the store. The security guard seems to be part of the hood group and doesnt seem to care.. Oh well. As long as the taco bell has a drive through im good.

    Default Shaq Tower & Bears Stadium Plans

    I heard from someone involved in arranging the financing for several projects in Newark the other day that although demolition is underway at the Shaq tower site, financing isn't actually fully lined up yet for construction and that it's still a year away (or more) from actually going U/C. On the brighter side, there are ongoing discussions with several hedge funds and VC firms for development of a hotel with 700+ rooms and retail at the Bears Stadium site...so I guess this is where that north Jersey casino might end up.

    • 3 more units for the 22 story NJPAC Tower, which will have 15,000 square feet of retail and a mini police precinct, bringing it to 245 units

    NJPAC Tower/1 Centre Street went in front of the planning board today to add 3 residential units, making it 245 units in a 22 story building.

    The 5 acre Ironbound development site can be seen above in the background, across the street. Downtown and Newark Penn Station is 1000 feet the other way, hence why a drive thru TD Bank is a horrendous waste of space for this site. Hopefully it will disappear soon.

    They have been working on it more and will likely do a residential conversion, a long rumored project that I can't find anything about!

    They've begun installing large windows on the top floor.
    NO sign they've begun eliminating the cinder blocks covering 1st & 2nd floor windows.
    If those remain, I doubt it would be residential. Perhaps office,or another self storage place. (I hope not!! Not with an adjacent train station & light rail!)

    These murals look really great. I saw the artists working on them at night yesterday. Really awesome and big change of scenery.
    Saw the artists working in this late last night with lights on and police helping with traffic. The mural and art looks just amazing. What a great effort from the mayor, the city, and the artists.

    The murals look awesome, are there any other plans to spruce up route 21? That is usually the route i take into newark, and have always hoped they would make it more eye appealing, and it seems recently it has gotten better/ cleaner. I know part of the Tirangle park project is on route 21, but is there any other plans that anyone is aware of?

    They are there every weeknight,weather permitting. As long as the portable lamp stands remain along rt21, they'll be there.

    I'm pretty sure it is. I drive by it daily and they look like they have the 1rst floor cleared out but the glass windows seem odd for a storage facilty.
