51 -story, 61-story..does anyone believe anything like this will EVER happen in Newark or will Newark forever remain an ocean of surface parking lots? Like the Halo, the Vibe, the 42-story bldg proposed a year or so ago, the 26-story hotel at Military Park...I would really prefer to hear "nothing" about changes to Newark's skyline, which is about the same now as 60 years ago, than get my hopes up and then "nothing". Also, is this location TWO BLOCKS from PennSta or more like 1/4 mile?

60 years ago? Let's not exaggerate. Most of the prominent buildings in Newark's skyline were constructed after 1959.

Probably not for a really, really long time. The Halo site is currently listed for sale at $41 million, so it appears that investors are just getting projects approved to inflate their land values.

There's still about 3 decades worth of developable land in downtown Jersey City alone, so there won't be much of a need for dense housing in Newark for the foreseeable future.

^A really good looking render, but that project is probably 7-10 years away.

All brick and mortar chains are downsizing - everything is going online. Ground retail is probably going to decline by at least 50% over the next decade
