California - Carmel, Monterrey, and other Beach Towns

From my trip to Carmel, Monterrey, and a couple of Beach towns when I lived in San Francisco, CA.

I love the lonely cypress.
Is it the most famous tree in the world ?

hey Fabb they take trees seriously in California:

Driving down the California coast was an expierence. My favorite beach town has to be Venice Beach outside of Los Angeles, I will never forget my stay off the boardwalk. The highlight was further north outside of San Simeon spending the night in California style, bonfires lining the coast.

I wouldn't say it's world famous, but it was a tourist attraction in that area. The cypress was about to fall off the rocks during a storm due to its age. They had to add some wooden supports, so that the tree will last another 100 years on those rocks.

I still need to get to the central Cali coast. I've done SF north to the Oregon border, and Oceanside south to the Mexican border, but nothing in between.

My favorite coastal town may be Mendocino at this point. I took this photo early in the morning when the fog was just lifting last fall (from my photo/travel site):
