Yes
No
PHL, I understand your love of tall buildings,I enjoy them myself as well. But, I dont understand your constant hysteria over height and supertalls in NY. What does it matter if a building claims WTB or is over 1000 ft? Gehrys tower is going to be amazing, no matter the height. Look at Hearst, 600 ft., but still major eye candy.

I just want some height for NY, its something it lacks.
Ghery himself said 2 months ago that the tower would be "about" 1000 feet and taller than the AIG tower, I dont know if that means to a spire or not but stop speculating until we see the rendering.
The building is going to be big, and it's gonna be 950 feet plus. Just chill. I agree it would be better if it was a 1000 footer, but its gonna be tall. It's a 75 storey mixed use building, 2+2=4 guys.
The building will be 75 storeys, end of story.
Is it possible it will end up 70 storeys or 76 storeys? Sure.
Will it be 50 storeys, not unless something unforeseen occurs.
Since the building has bloomed to 75-stories, they have been saying it would be the second tallest Downtown. Now, whether that is due to a floor height or some type of ornament on top (with Gehry, who knows), so far nobody has said otherwise. I'm sticking with second tallest until that changes.
This is retarded, a ton of my family lives in Cleveland and I have a place in Shaker Heights, Ill walk down to Sam Miller and Chuck Ratners house which is less than a 5 minute walk and demand to see some renderings or have them sent to me, hell Ill even post pictures of there houses. Anyone want to make bets to see if this pans out?
If what pans out, the building itself or your family demanding renderings?
I bet we don't get renderings until they are officially released. I also bet there will be a very mixed reaction. I admit I'm bracing myself - it is Gehry after all.
Bruce Ratner is the developer. I don't think threatening someone is ever a good idea, even if the developer, Bruce Ratner, did live there. I think that the building will look a lot like Gehry's proposal for the NY Times Tower.
P.S.: What on earth does Ratner have to do with Cleveland? Ohio (and the rest of the Midwest) blows!
The last time i checked, forest city enterprises was based out of cleveland.

This Gehry tower is being built by Forest City Ratner, which is based in Brooklyn. I think Forest City split into two entities a while back.Originally Posted by case_architect
