Yes
No
I saw the 800 foot figure in TIME magazine 2 months ago and someone here said it was a misprint, it is supposed to be the 2nd tallest in lower manhattan, 800 feet would be the 6th tallest in lower manhattan after calatrava and FT, AIG, Trump, CMP, and the WTC towers would send it even lower, Maybe they added a spire?

It was slated as the second talest downtown after the freedom tower, meaning at least 953 feet, since AIG is 952'
75 floors with 800' seems wrong, when you build that high usually things get fancier and people like higher ceilings, penthouse suites, an elegant crown, and the school below, the retail should make a 75 story apartment tower today at least 900 or so feet. We'll have to wait and see, who was it who said they worked for the city and could get the height?
It may very well be 800 feet, it just seems odd, to small a figure to match the info we've been given.
Could have been the 55-floor figure.
I wouldn't jump on that 800 ft height figure just yet. Too much we don't know about this project that has been constantly changing. We don't even know for certain that the building will be 75-stories.
I for one would be very happy if this building was 800 feet, maybe a little higher and 850 feet. I know people are going to jump on me for this, but I think any higher than 900 feet is too high for a Gehry building, here. Im a staunch believer that post-modern and elaborate designs should be tall only if in a city center, on the outskirts something providing a clear-cut iconic, modern design, and identity is necessary, anything else would detract from the greater skyline. Ie; replace the positioning of the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings.
Downtown's skyline is like a 750-850 foot table top. Since FT will be on the west side, it would be nice to have something taller than the table top on the east side.
If this was in the lower-manhattan cluster I'd be let down with an 800 foot height, however on the periphery of the skyline like this is, 800 feet will be 800 feet.Originally Posted by NYatKNIGHT

Another great example:
At 950 feet TWT would overwhelm the beast that is the midtown skyline.
Ahhhh im not up with the lingo, what does TWT stand for, i know i seem realllll stupid right now, but what ever
