they always talk about a biotech building bowtown, why not build it here a great use for a great site
Yes
No

55 Storeys...You said it's speculation, but...
Would that kind of height define the Skyline, or would it just blend in with everything else?
Wow, this and the Goldman Sachs Building which is also going up in Downtown, and 7 WTC, a couple 1000 footers in the WTC Complex AND The World's Tallest Building.
I think it's Almost (Almost, Keywod there) Safe to say...
Downtown is Back.

I think many residents would object to it. You wouldn't believe how many people protested the Memorial Sloan-Kettering research facility on the UES.
true but honestly NYC needs a new industry, Wall Street is so fickle and Biotech is creating thousnads of jobs in cities all over Nj Boston and California
Purely speculation. It might be 20 storeys like 111 Worth Street. There are alot of factors involved though, not least among them there are NIMBY's in the neighborhood, where it would otherwise be safe to build tall. Ratner is very inconsistent, for some projects he will commision A-List architecture and in effect create a profile property. Ratner is often choosen for more sensitive projects though where there results are often mediocre. Hopefully Ratner will build conspicuously.Stern, work with me here.

No doubts there, but a 400,000 square-foot research facility at MSK is still nothing to sneeze at. And there's still that biotech village under consideration near Bellevue.Originally Posted by kliq6
The location alone almost guarantees that it wouldn't blend in with everything else, it depends on the design though. It would be similar to the white Verizon building just north of the Brooklyn Bridge, only on the south side...something that tall would probably block the view of the Woolworth though...Originally Posted by NyC MaNiAc

I'd be willing to lose a view of Woolworth if They build something reallly nice.
with Metrotech, NY Times and the New Nets Stadium in Brooklyn, this project it seems is not that high on Ratners plate.
Metrotech's finished...
they are building for Bank Of New York and have three more devlopment sites left
BoNY isn't in Metrotech...

--How do you know there will be a couple of 1000 footers in the wtc complex. From the pictures it only seems that FT will soar that hihg
The Freedom Tower looks to be 1776' Ft.
BUT 4 other Towers are going to be built on the site, and from the information I have heard a couple of those towers will hit the 1000 Ft. Mark.

Go there and type New York City into the search bar. See what pops up.
You could be right though, the Building's heights might all be speculation at this point.
This building still on track?
