taller than 950, from the looks of it its over 1000, look at 55 water street to the left of the pic, thats about 700 feet tall, this is at least 50 % taller, 1050 feet or so is my guess, but that's being very liberal, 800 would be quite low from the looks of that rendering.

This could very well have a higher roof than freedom tower, this is better than 1 NY place IMO, I do have a big NIMBY fear though, so I pray to god it will stay that tall.

I wouldn't rely too much on that drawing until the actual design is released.
    I hope you're right, however I'm pessimistic.

It all depends on the floor-floor height. If this was a commercial office building, an average floor height of 14 ft would yield a building 1050 ft to the roof. But 14 ft is high for a residential floor.

    I'll guess 900 ft.

    Agreed.

I think that it's going to be inbetween 975-1000ft. I can't really say why, i just have a gut feelings that this is where the building will fall, maybe even 981ft.

Personally, I would be surprised if Ratner didn't push it upward in some manner to garner additional attention. As we know, Calavatra's Tower will be competing nearby for media coverage and pushing up past that 900ft mark and topping out at a cool 1000ft enters the realm of Trump bravado. Ratner is coming into Manhattan very strong with the 42nd Street Entertainment Complex, NY Times Tower and now this, he is certainly not treating Manhattanites to the crap he's heaved on Brooklyn.

For a 75-story residential tower, I would be happy with 900 ft to roof. But Gehry doesn't design "ordinary" buildings, so we'll just have to see...

I can't imagine it will be that tall. Can you really build that tall w/o an outcry from the NIMBY's? I know there are no residentials in the immediate area but it sticks out so prominently, I can't see people letting this one go up that high.

As stated a million times the tower is connected to the school. The community wants a roof-top playground for the kids, that said the tower is here to stay!

I’m not a big stickler on height, there is something special about tall buildings, but I could care less about statistics. That said if this building is something like 981 feet or 992 feet, I would hope they would round it out to an even 1000 feet.

I feel you about the tall building part, but in my opinion a taller version of a building is more astetically pleasing (most of the times, sometimes there is an exception). But as to why i said 981, i think they might do one of two things. Name a height that is 1000+, but it will be pushed down due to Nimbyism and they will settle for 981 feet or something...acting as a way to trick nimby's into giving them the height that they really wanted. The second thing that they might do is just say 981 feet to get out of the Nimbyism spotlight, because Calavatra is rising right next door and they might try to slip one by. But i think the second one will be a little more difficult to pull off, because Ratner is in the spotlight, and with an allstar architect as Ghery....
