I really hope that these hideous J&R buildings are razed. They block the view of the magnificent Victorian buildings behind them.

There's no way they'd be razed and not replaced with something notably more view blocking.

Plus it's not the buildings, it's all that crap signage tacked onto them. Is that even legal?

I love those buildings and the signs. Shows character, shows a lived in city.

It's different when you live here.

Signs add so much charm to buildings

The buildings are fine, but for the big one, which is obscured by the trees in the photo. I hate the signs though.

My hope is for them all to be razed and replaced with a slender tower, so that the gems behind them are visible.

I think those buildings are in character with the beauties behind them, and with renovation and the removal of those hideous signs would be much more preferable to something new.

It's a superb streetscape overall and this would be spoilt by another new tower, which wouldn't work proportionally IMO.

Have you been through there, Merry. If not, I am referring to the biggest of those buildings, which is largely obscured in the photo, and is hideous. The smaller buildings to the north are fine, but for the signs.

Never stepped foot outside of Oz .

I was only referring to what I can see in the photo. Maybe something new to replace what you're talking about, but I think it would need to be in context.

That view will be so much nicer when Seaport City rises as a mega-block along the other side of the river and secures Manhattan
