I prefer the nuts or Pretzels, I had two hot dogs (I was Starving!) two weeks ago in Downtown Brooklyn from a vendor on Livingston Street.
Gave me the worst gas , definetly needed some alka seltzer.
Ya one hotdog fills me up. HOw much are hotdogs there in NYC? I know here in Oregon they are $2.00 for a foot long hotdog in those type of things.
THanks, JOYCE
oh.. there is a good hotdog store on St. marks street between ave A and ave B. I will provide the picture next time.
great pics! especially showing everyday life there.
i remember the wonderfully slight burned bagel smells on crisp cool nights there..
are there chestnut street vendors, or did i dream that there were? i remember being able to get little white bags of steaming hot chestnuts as a child.
Chestnuts are usually sold between October & January.
Love a dirty water hotdog, but prefer a crisp grilled one from Nathans or Katz's Deli.

Nice photos Edward. For a person who lives in Iowa, it's nice to see what authentic hot dog stands look like.

You cannot get shish kebab from a stand in Iowa? :O
Oh, we can! But we have to make them inside the home. We don't have stands where I live because the town is to small.![]()
^Plus, people probably don't like to get out of their cars much.
We used to get post-bar Gyros from a vendor on the pedestrian mall when I was at the University of Iowa (91-93). That guy was the first and last standalone street vendor I've bought anything from in Iowa.
