Strangely reminds me of the monster pit in return of the jedi.

Does anyone know where exactly the borders of the memorial opening on 9/11 will be? It looks like the area around the northeast edge of the northern pool is still very much under construction, yet people will want to traverse the pools entirely.

    Interesting observation!

It INDEED DOES look like a huge sports jumbotron! Almost as though someone painted those buildings on there!

Imagine what it's going to be like when ALL of the facade is installed!! On all four sides at that!!

Note also, the huge monster size of the South Pool as well. Shows just how massively wide and big the twin towers were when they stood there!!

^ they should have that first row of trees in on the north east corner with a temporary fence installed soon after to demark the border.. it looks like they just pulled a tree from far north western edge in anticipation of finishing that area up.

question is whether they pull out the tower crane or fence around it.

the western edge willl temporarily be the vent structures on a line north. they are finishing that up as i write.

I've been wondering about the tower crane.

The water looks almost greenish, almost like an algae color.

It does at that. Wonder why.

I have the strongest feeling that they are using Hudson water to test the pools.

Folks will be able to walk all the way around both pools. You can see today on the earthcam that the fences have mostly gone in along the south & SE sides of the perimeter.

I got tickets online. Fairly simple.

For now: an afternoon in September and a full moon evening in October.

I would think the tower crane will be gone. If it is only there to finish installing the arches, it does not have much longer to go.

I think that they are INDEED using some of the waters from the Hudson River. But it is being recurculated to save on water bills. Hence the massive sophisticated pumps that are being used to keep the water flowing.

why would they risk damage to the masive sophisticated pumps and overwhelming whatever filter system they have by using Hudson river water just to save on the water bill?

i think what is going on (running the pumps for varied times and at varied speeds) is all part of the break in process.. stagnant untreated water turns green very fast in the summer.
