But that's what forums are all about. You can't expect to post questionable claims and expect to only get positive feedback. If that's not for you, then so be it.

Apparently that publication is nothing more than a co-op management insider's newsletter. Can hardly be considered experts on geology/engineering. Most of it are unsubstantiated allegations.

The courts will ultimately decide if this project is the cause. They will have experts to testify and then we'll know for sure. Until that happens, it's all just talk.

By the way, anyone know if the apartments are still going forward or not?

So I passed by this site a few days ago and the cladding is 85-90% complete (sadly i didnt have my camera).

I must say that the cladding looks sligtly better than the rendering had portrayed it, however it is still nonetheless pretty hideious.

Drove by here on Easter Sunday. The retail portion seems to be nearing completion. Although it will be occupied by "big box" retial, the architecture itself has some curves. Maybe it isn't great, but we've seen worse.

From the perspective I saw it, I would have had to pull over on the Long Island Expressway to snap a photo. Not going to happen.

Only the retail component is completed.

Since I live within blocks of the project and have spoken to a number of people, here is an update:
    - The residential section was postponed by Vornado as of the end of last year. Surprising since other coops and condos are being built in Rego Park and the values of apartments have held fairly steady.
    - Home Depot has been reported to be considering dropping out of the project. This is not true. Home Depot had already dropped out months ago.
    - And the latest is that Costco has taken the place of Home Depot. They will take over the entire basement area. Now that sounds like a better fit for the neighborhood.
As far as how the building looks, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Some sections look okay, some look tacky (red siding especially). We'll see when it's completed in the Fall.

    Hey LittleSkippy,

Any chance that you can take some photos and post them here?
