    Hello from France,

I have a photo made by my grandfather in May 1919, when he was still a sailor in the great war.
In 1919 he made his last great journey in the Navy in Savannah, Georgia.
We have that visited New York with his collection of postcards.
But there are also photos which it which I find very beautiful.
I would like to find where this was done cliche.
This monument there may be more.
I think discovering write on a panel of a car of the tram. 59 Broadway Street 7th AV.
    Thank you for your help.

    Regards,
    Dan

This is Madison Square, corner of 23rd. St. and Broadway. The monuments were temporary and made of wood.

^ Marvelous photo, thanks for posting it Randy.

This photographer has taken many great photos of NYC, including some beauties of the Upper West Side (in his Manhattan set), my favourite NYC neighbourhood .

If only those were stone or marble and not wood, it would of been amazing, almost like a modern day Rome, with the triumphant arches.

    Beautiful.

Some people may not know, Washington Square arch was originally wood, then they remade it in stone.
