So maybe the whole downtown residential trend ain't all that. Consider The Crest, a "36 story neoclassical structure" at 63 Wall Street that angry residents say is turning their lives into a special version of hell. A Curbed reader emails:

The tenants at 63 Wall Street (The Crest) are having a miserable time. Check out what building residents were promised. Now, here's what they got:

* No gas in apartment until August 21, 2004
* No access to cable television until August 17, 2004
* No access to internet service until August 17, 2004
* No access to telephone service until August 24, 2004. Fortunately there was no need to dial 911.
* No laundry facilities for almost a month after we moved in
* No secure U.S. Postal Service approved mailbox until almost a month after we moved in

The following advertised amenities are still not yet available: The Great Room, movie theater quality private screening room, multiple seating areas, billiards room, baby grand piano, library, game room, wireless internet access, Continental breakfast on weekends, fitness center, onsite garage, bicycle storage, business center, conference room, ATM, DVD rental service, and "beautifully landscaped common sundeck" located on the 21st floor which "features expansive views of the East River, Hudson River and Lower Manhattan."

To date, there has not yet been an attempt by Metro Loft Management to communicate an estimated completion date of the above items. Of course the tenants have formed into an association and are taking legal advice.
