Yea I agree, I love old New York building but I've seen this one in person and it really looks shitty, nothing to feel sorry about when it's gone. It's lived it's age, time to move on.

    That's... weird.

Reminiscent of early Koolhoos. Strangely I find it appealing; ironically this building is a block north of a very similar proposal designed by Koolhoos in the 1980ís.

I like it, but it seems to have huge signage on south facade (am I wrong). Who wants to live with that outside their window? I would think the southern exposires would be most valuable.

It does seem that it will have a huge sign. I look forward to that, but I agree that it will be a nuisance for residents (unless its adjacant to elavator banks or some other area that will minimize the impact).

    Thumbs down

^ What in tarnation is that frikken thing!?! As a couple of forumers have already pointed out, the huge piece jutting out on the right hand side will be an advertising billboard - more than likely.

Like NYC needs another nondescript apartment building NOT.

Whether you liked the Studebaker Building or not, once a piece of history is gone, it's gawn!! Obviously it wasn't heritage listed.

The design is almost worse than I expected. Buyers need to boycott crap like this.

Bit of a polarizing design, I guess. I like it.

    Quote from the article:

Jeffrey Katz, the chief executive of Sherwood, said that he had seriously explored renovating the 102-year-old structure but that doing so would not be feasible.

"It's drastically out of place at this time," Mr. Katz said. "It wants now to become something else."
I'm not quite sure this it what it wanted to become.

Its a nice enough building but who wants an apartment anywhere near that sign?

If the apartments near the sign are renting for under $1000/month or selling for under $150K - call me, I'll live next to the sign.

I like this building, its very Miamish.

Two residential buildings I don't like are staid and conventional:

325 Fifth Avenue and The Orion.
